| Project Families Together
Project Families Together is a free aftercare and parenting education
program for parents in recovery from substance abuse who are working
towards family reunification. This once-a-week program is designed
to give support, encouragement, and assistance to participants who
are nearing the end of their substance abuse treatment and facing
the combined pressures of re-entering the workforce, reuniting with
their children, and maintaining sobriety.
A participant in Project Families Together is typically a single
parent with more than one child and a history of chronic substance
abuse and mandated treatment due to Child Protective Services or
Family Treatment Court Involvement. The program is unique in that
the entire family is welcome and encouraged to attend. Dinner is
provided along with adult relapse prevention/parenting groups, homework
help and educational activities for the children, and fun family
outings; transportation help is provided where necessary. Parents
must be TANF eligible to take part.
