| Case Coordination and Treatment
Team
Collaboration and cooperation among professionals is key to ensuring
that the needs of child abuse and neglect victims are being met.
CCAN’s Child Abuse Case Coordination and Treatment Team (CACTT)
works on behalf of four types of sexual assault victims:
- Children under 18 years of age;
- Children in foster care due to being abused;
- Children abused by persons, usually parents or guardians, who
have an alcohol and/or drug addiction;
- Children who are family violence witnesses.
Team members work with government child services professionals to
make sure that all the needs of the victim are being met.
Funded by the Nassau County Department of Social Services, CACTT
ensures that all agencies involved in selected child maltreatment
cases are addressing the needs of the child.
During 2004, coordinators reported involvement with 105 foster
care sex abuse cases, 409 sex abuse cases and 1,413 new cases of
child abuse and neglect with parental substance abuse
